EXPERIENCE

2005-present | Google | Senior Software Engineer

Member of Open Source Program Office; working to promote open-source software in multiple ways. Launched massively-scalable open source project hosting (based on Subversion) in 2006. See code.google.com for details.

2000-2005 | CollabNet, Inc. | Software Engineer

Co-designer and core developer of Subversion, an open source version control system designed to replace CVS. Brought product from nascent design to 1.2. Five years of managing and leading the open-source community. Helped integrate Subversion into Collabnet's collaborative software development framework. Co-authored an O'Reilly book on Subversion.

1997-2000 | Inso Corporation | Unix Systems Admin / Software Engineer

Responsible for a lab of 20 Unix machines (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, DEC, SGI, FreeBSD, Linux) used for commercial software development. Rolled out uniform DNS, NFS and NIS-based home directories with Linux infrastructure; aided OS portability research; worked on Linux port of Inso's file-viewing products; wrote large distributed build system.

1995-1997 | ARCH Development Corporation | Information Systems Manager

Responsible for information systems design, purchasing, execution and troubleshooting for a technology-transfer company. Built a network for twenty Mac and Windows clients; built/supported Linux network architecture for email, name, web, and file-sharing services. Wrote a number of CGI and Java-based applications to manage client database.

1994-1995 | University of Chicago Computer Science Dept. | Research Programmer

Programmed MacOS image-processing apps for experiments in computer vision and artificial intelligence.

1990-1993 | Argonne National Laboratory | Research Progamming Intern

Three summers developing Unix C/C++ software tools for the visualization and analysis of a supercomputer Global Climate Model.
