Opening Number

	All Eb- and C vamp sections: maybe a cello bass line, soft
	violin melody over speaking

	Coda -- violin responds to whitman's melodies

Grass Poem

      Cello plays the established pattern by itself.
      Violin sustained notes on top
      (If this goes well, we can leave the piano out completely!)

Passing Stranger

	Cello:  nice half-note lines to complement piano
	Violin:  ??

We Two Boys

      Experiment:  in beginning, try playing written bass/tenor parts
      "No law": violin plays triplets Eb-D-Eb, as in bird song
      ?

     Violin melodic echoes already done.
     Add cello...?  maybe only in Eric's bridge solos?

Hours Continuing Long

      Cello *definitely* plays bassline whole notes.
      Violin:  ?  perhaps an occasional melodic flourish between vocal phrases
	       ?  angry section:  hold out whole notes

      Cello:  during verses, beautiful half-note counterpoint
      underneath.
      Violin:  *only* during choruses, double piano-pattern.
